To export Shopify orders from the admin, open Orders, tick the orders you want, then click Export at the top of the page and choose Selected orders. The export is not in the More actions menu. That menu holds bulk actions for the selected orders and any actions added by apps you have installed.

The file you get is a CSV with Shopify’s fixed columns. If you hand the same file to a bookkeeper or a workshop every week, a saved column template saves you from cleaning it up each time. This guide covers both.

Where is the export button in the Shopify orders list?

When you select orders, a bar of bulk actions appears above the list. More actions opens the rest of them, plus anything your installed apps add. The export itself is a separate Export button in the page header, next to the page title.

  1. In Shopify admin, open Orders.
  2. Filter the list first, so you only see the orders you need (next section).
  3. Tick the checkbox next to each order, or the top checkbox for every order on the page.
  4. Click Export in the page header.
  5. In the Export orders window, choose Selected orders (or the current page, all orders or a date range) and the file format.
  6. Click Export orders.

Shopify’s help center describes this in Exporting orders. Exports of up to 50 orders, or the current page, download straight away; larger ones are emailed to you and the store owner.

How do I export only the orders from one sales channel?

Filter the order list by Sales channel before you select anything. If you sell through the online store, POS and a social channel, accounting often wants each one in its own file.

  1. On the Orders page, add a filter and pick Sales channel.
  2. Choose the channel, for example Online Store or Point of Sale.
  3. Add a date filter for the period of your report.
  4. Select the orders and export them as in the steps above.

Run the export once per channel and name each file after the channel and the period, such as online-store-2026-10.csv.

Can I export a single order from its order page?

The order page has its own More actions menu, with actions for that one order and any actions your apps add there. It has no export. To get one order into a file, tick that order in the list, click Export and choose Selected orders.

Which export should I use for weekly reports, accounting or payroll?

Shopify’s order export Columna: Order Export & Sheets
Where you start Export on the Orders page The app, from your Shopify admin
Which orders Selected orders, current page, all orders or a date range Filtered by payment status, fulfillment status, date range and tags
Columns Shopify’s fixed set The ones you pick, renamed and in your order, saved as a template
Line-item properties Not in the standard columns One column per property key, such as Property: Engraving
File CSV CSV or XLSX, built in your browser

The built-in export is enough for a one-off look at sales. A saved template helps when the same people need the same file every week. Both work with the same orders; pick the one that matches how often you repeat the job.

How do I build a reusable order file?

These steps use Columna: Order Export & Sheets.

  1. Open the template. The first one, Line items with properties, is ready when you install the app.
  2. Pick the columns. Choose from groups such as Order, Customer, Shipping, Billing, Line item, Properties and Accounting. For a report split by channel, add the Sales channel column so you can filter or total by channel in the sheet.
  3. Rename and order them. Give each header the name your bookkeeper or workshop expects, and put the columns in the order their sheet uses.
  4. Save the template. It is stored in your store, so next week you start from the same layout.
  5. Filter the orders. Set the date range, payment status, fulfillment status and tags for this report.
  6. Download the file. Choose CSV or XLSX. The file is built in your browser.

If you turn on tagging, the app tags the orders you exported, which makes it easy to see later which orders have already gone into a report.

What should I check before I send the file?

  • The period. Do the dates in the file match the week or month of the report?
  • The channel. If the report is per channel, does the Sales channel column show only that channel?
  • Cancelled and refunded orders. Mark or remove them before anyone sums the Total column.
  • Long numbers in Excel. If you opened a CSV, import order IDs, ZIP codes and phone numbers as text. Our guide to exporting Shopify orders to Excel covers the import settings. For Shopify’s own orders CSV, the Shopify order CSV to Excel converter writes an .xlsx that keeps those columns as text.

FAQ

Why is there no export in More actions?

Shopify keeps the order export as a separate Export button in the header of the Orders page. More actions lists bulk actions for the selected orders and actions added by apps.

Can I export only some orders?

Yes. Tick the orders, click Export and choose Selected orders. Filtering the list first by date, status or sales channel makes the selection quicker.

Why did I get an email instead of a download?

Shopify downloads the file directly for up to 50 orders or the current page. Larger exports are emailed to you and the store owner.

Can the export include engraving text or gift messages?

Not as columns in Shopify’s standard order CSV. Columna: Order Export & Sheets puts each line-item property, such as engraving text or a gift message, in its own column.

Where do I ask if my export looks wrong?

For Columna: Order Export & Sheets, write to hello@reply.getstorefleet.com with the template you used and the filters you set, so we can reproduce the file.
