How to choose a nutrition label app

  1. Which market's format do you need?

    EU buyers expect a nutrition table per 100 g or 100 ml with energy in kJ and kcal, and allergens emphasised in the ingredients (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). US buyers expect a Nutrition Facts panel per serving with % Daily Value. Etiketto, NutriPanel and Etiqi are built for the EU format; KL, EasyNutriFact and NutritionFactsKit for the US panel; It's Got offers several formats.

  2. Who decides what is an allergen?

    Some apps detect the 14 EU allergens in your ingredient text (NutriPanel, Etiqi, EU Food Info Guard). Etiketto bolds only what you mark. Detection saves typing; marking keeps every bold word your decision. Either way, check the result against your specification.

  3. Does each flavour or size need its own label?

    If one product has variants with different recipes, check that the label can change with the variant the shopper picks. Etiketto and It's Got: Nutrition Facts both list labels per variant.

  4. Text on the page, or an image for the pack?

    A text table is read by search engines, screen readers and translation tools. A print-ready image is for packaging and marketplaces. Some apps do one, some both.

  5. How many products and languages?

    Plans cap the number of labels (It's Got: Nutrition Facts), the AI analyses per month (Etiqi) or the languages a label can show. Count your catalogue and your store languages before you compare prices.

Limits

  • Translations, PDF and image exports and more labels come with higher plans; paid plans also bundle product reviews you may not need.
  • The listing does not say which country formats are included, so check the EU layout in its demo before you rely on it.

Limits

  • It makes an image; the listing does not mention a theme block that shows the label as text.
  • US format only. The listing itself advises checking the final label with a food-labeling expert before printing.

What is the best nutrition label app for Shopify?

Start with where you sell. For EU food information (a nutrition table per 100 g, ingredients with allergens in bold and the operator), look at Etiketto: EU Nutrition Labels, NutriPanel or Etiqi. For a US Nutrition Facts panel, look at It's Got: Nutrition Facts, KL ‑ Nutrition Facts Label or, for a print-ready image, EasyNutriFact. To check existing ingredient text for undeclared allergens, EU Food Info Guard.

What is the difference between an EU nutrition table and US Nutrition Facts?

The EU nutrition declaration under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 gives values per 100 g or 100 ml, with energy in kJ and kcal, and the ingredient list shows allergens emphasised. The US Nutrition Facts panel is per serving with % Daily Value, following FDA rules such as the rounding in 21 CFR 101.9. An app built for one format does not give you the other, so pick by the market you sell to.

Which apps put allergens in bold automatically?

On their listings, NutriPanel bolds the 14 EU allergens automatically, Etiqi detects them with AI, and EU Food Info Guard detects them in ingredient text and flags the ones the page does not declare. Etiketto: EU Nutrition Labels bolds only the words you mark with asterisks; it does not detect allergens.

Is there a free nutrition label app for Shopify?

Several have a Free plan. On 3 November 2026: EasyNutriFact is listed as Free; It's Got: Nutrition Facts has a Free plan with 10 labels; NutriPanel has a Free plan with all its panel types; EU Food Info Guard's Free plan detects allergens but has no theme block; Etiketto: EU Nutrition Labels has a Free plan with the nutrition table and allergen labels in English, German and French, and its Pro plan is $5.99 a month. Etiqi and KL ‑ Nutrition Facts Label are paid, with a free trial.

Does a nutrition label app make my product pages compliant?

No app decides that for you. The values and wording come from your specification or lab results, and the app shows them. Check the rules that apply to your products, such as national rules or the rules for food supplements.

Should the nutrition label be text or an image?

Text on the product page. Search engines, screen readers and translation tools read an HTML table but not a photo of the pack. Etiketto: EU Nutrition Labels, NutriPanel, It's Got: Nutrition Facts and KL ‑ Nutrition Facts Label render labels as HTML. An image export, as in EasyNutriFact or It's Got: Nutrition Facts, is useful for packaging and marketplaces.
