How to choose an order export app

Only need Shopify's own orders CSV as a sheet you can sort, now and then? The Shopify order CSV to Excel converter does that in your browser, with no app.

  1. Who reads the file?

    A person with a spreadsheet (your workshop, packer or bookkeeper), a system that imports it (3PL, ERP, accounting), or you, as a report. People: Columna or Matrixify. Systems: EZ Exporter, Exportify or syncX: Export. Reports: Report Pundit or Better Reports.

  2. How does it get there?

    Downloaded by hand, emailed on a schedule, synced to Google Sheets, or sent to an FTP, SFTP or API endpoint. Delivery is what plans hold back most often, so check which plan adds the one you need.

  3. Which columns must be in it?

    Line-item properties (engraving, gift messages, upload links), metafields, note attributes, tax lines. Also decide between one row per order and one row per line item.

  4. How many orders, and how many layouts?

    Some plans cap orders per export or per file (syncX: Export, Matrixify), others cap the number of templates (EZ Exporter, Exportify).

  5. What happens when it breaks?

    Read the newest reviews from shops of your size and job, and the developer's replies. For a feed your warehouse depends on, a long review record counts more than a high average.

  • Our view: it is a full store data tool. For one daily order sheet you may be paying for, and learning, far more than you use.

Limits

  • The paid plan is set by your Shopify plan, not by how much you export.
  • Our view: it is a reporting tool first. For a file with a fixed layout that a warehouse imports, a dedicated export app fits better.

We read each app's public Shopify App Store listing on 3 November 2026 and took plans, prices, ratings, review counts and features as the listing shows them. We did not install the other apps, so nothing here is a test result; where a line is our opinion, it starts with "Our view".

Mipler: Advanced Reports is often named in these lists. On 3 November 2026 its listing said it was not currently available on the Shopify App Store, so it is not included.

What is the best order export app for Shopify?

It depends on where the file goes. For store migrations and bulk edits, Matrixify. For scheduled files to a 3PL, ERP or FTP server, EZ Exporter, Exportify or syncX: Export. For production sheets with engraving text or gift messages in their own columns, Columna: Order Export & Sheets. For sales, tax and payout reports, Report Pundit or Better Reports.

Is there a free order export app for Shopify?

Several apps have a Free plan with limits. On 3 November 2026: syncX: Export allows direct downloads of up to 100 orders per export; Report Pundit's Free plan is for stores below 1,000 lifetime orders; Matrixify's Demo plan handles 10 orders per file; Columna: Order Export & Sheets has a Free plan with unlimited CSV and Excel exports, and its Pro plan is $4.99 a month. EZ Exporter, Exportify and Better Reports have paid plans with a free trial.

How do I export line item properties from Shopify orders?

Shopify's standard order CSV has no column for line-item properties, so use an app that reads them. Columna: Order Export & Sheets gives each property key its own column. EZ Exporter, Exportify and syncX: Export also list line item properties on their listings, and Report Pundit can pull data from line items.

Which apps send order files to an FTP or SFTP server automatically?

EZ Exporter schedules exports to FTP or SFTP from its Standard plan, as often as every 15 minutes. Exportify sends scheduled exports by FTP or SFTP from its Standard plan and one file per order from its Advanced plan. syncX: Export sends to FTP in real time or on a schedule from its Basic plan. Matrixify lists FTP and SFTP among the services it works with and can schedule jobs. Columna: Order Export & Sheets does not send files to FTP or SFTP.

Which order export apps sync to Google Sheets?

Columna: Order Export & Sheets (one sync on its Free plan, up to 5 on Pro), syncX: Export (from Basic), EZ Exporter (from Advanced), Report Pundit, Better Reports and Matrixify all list Google Sheets on their listings.

Which app should I use to move my whole store to Shopify?
