A bakery asks for its terms, a delivery date and an optional gift message. Pick when the buyer orders and what they do, and see what the cart allows, what checkout says and what lands on the order.
Sample rules: lead time 1 day, cut-off 14:00, closed on Sunday, time slots 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-18:00, checked in the store's time zone. Field names, rules and messages are yours to set.

All required fields are filled, so Check out goes on to checkout.

The Cart details block on the order page writes the date out: Saturday, 14 November 2026 · 09:00-12:00.
Cart drawer, above the Check out button
Check out stays in the cart and moves the focus to the terms checkbox. No order is placed until the box is ticked.
Checkout · the buyer skipped the cart, so no field was filled in
The buyer cannot pay until both are fixed. Back in the cart, the earliest delivery date on offer is Saturday 14 November. Messages show in the buyer's language: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or Polish, or your own text.
Order #1025 · Cart details block
With the checkout check off, only the cart asks for the fields, and Buy it now goes around the cart. The order has no terms and no date, so someone writes to the buyer. Had they used the cart, the earliest date would have been Saturday 14 November.

The Cart details block on the order page writes the date out: Monday, 16 November 2026 · 09:00-12:00.

Checkout · the buyer skipped the cart, so no field was filled in
The buyer cannot pay until both are fixed. Back in the cart, the earliest delivery date on offer is Monday 16 November. Messages show in the buyer's language: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or Polish, or your own text.
Order #1025 · Cart details block

Bakeries, florists and shops that deliver themselves need a date, an agreement to their terms or a note before an order is placed. A note box in the cart is easy to skip, and Buy it now skips the cart altogether.
So someone writes to the buyer after the order, and waits for an answer.
Add a terms checkbox, a delivery or pickup date, a text field or a dropdown to the cart drawer and the cart page, up to 8 fields. Heading, colours and corner radius are set in the theme editor to match your theme.
Dates follow your lead time, cut-off, closed days and holidays, with optional time slots. Days you are closed cannot be picked in the calendar.
Required fields are checked again at checkout by a Shopify Function, so Buy it now and express buttons cannot skip them. Answers show in a Cart details block on the order page, in a CSV export and on printable order sheets.
What you can ask in the cart, the rules a date follows, what checkout checks and where the answers end up. Up to 8 fields per store, of which at most 2 date fields.
The date is information for you: it does not change shipping rates, delivery methods or fulfillment dates. Other apps that read order attributes see the answers under the same names.
Pick field types, mark the required ones and set your delivery dates.
Switch on Cart fields in the theme editor and save the theme.
Required fields are then checked at checkout too.
Knowing the limits up front saves you an install.
It collects information; delivery options stay as your shipping settings make them.
The chosen date is kept on the order; it is not sent to a carrier.
Checkout only checks the answers and shows a message; the fields live in the cart.
A ticked box records that the buyer agreed; your terms stay yours to check.

Free. There is no paid plan and no charge for any feature.
It reads orders, to show buyer answers on the order page, in the CSV export and on order sheets, and runs a checkout validation for required fields. It does not read buyer names, emails, phone numbers or addresses.
No theme code changes. You switch on the Cart fields app embed in the theme editor. It needs an Online Store 2.0 theme.
No. Required fields are enforced by a Shopify Function, which Shopify lets stores on any plan use from public apps on the Shopify App Store.
The app's access ends at once and the checkout check stops with it. Answers already given stay on your orders, because they are saved as Shopify order attributes.
No. With checkout enforcement on, an empty required field stops checkout with a message asking the buyer to go back to the cart.
Step-by-step articles on the job this app does.
What a Shopify delivery date picker needs beyond a calendar: lead time, cut-off, closed days, holidays, time slots, and a check at checkout that Buy it now can't skip.
Three ways to add a required terms and conditions checkbox to Shopify: theme code, a checkout extension, or the cart plus a checkout check. What each one misses.
