Packaging weight calculator for EPR reports

List each piece of packaging with its material and weight, add how many you ship, and get kilograms per material, grouped the way Germany’s LUCID register and the EU packaging regulation ask for them.

  • A free calculator, CSV included. No sign-up.
  • Stays in your browser. Your packaging list is never uploaded.

The calculator needs JavaScript. The guide below works without it.

1Period

Count only what you ship to one country. For Germany and France, run it twice.

2Packaging components

The rows below are an example. Replace them with your own packaging, weighed empty on a kitchen or postal scale.

A box with a plastic window is two rows: one for the cardboard, one for the window.

Which figures each scheme asks for

Every European packaging scheme asks a version of the same question: how much packaging did you put on this country’s market? They count it differently.

Germany: LUCID and your dual system

Kilograms per material type, three decimals

  • You register in the LUCID packaging register, sign a contract with a dual system, and report the same kilograms per material to both. The Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR) expects identical figures.
  • Reports from 2019 to 2026 use eight material types: glass 10000, paper and cardboard 20000, ferrous metals 30000, aluminium 40000, plastics 50000, beverage cartons 60000, other composites 70000 and other materials 80000.
  • Since 12 August 2026 the VerpackDG has replaced the VerpackG. The ZSVR’s XML guide says reports from 2027 use the new law’s types, with liquid packaging board (68000) in place of beverage cartons.
  • Shipment packaging is always subject to system participation, the ZSVR says, so the box and filler count.

Step by step: LUCID registration, licensing and reports.

France: Citeo

Sales units (UVC) first, grams per material for large volumes

  • Citeo counts household packaging in UVC, the unit a consumer buys. The product’s packaging is one UVC and the shipping box another, so one product in a parcel is two.
  • The yearly UVC count sets the declaration: a flat-fee declaration with no weights under 10,000 UVC, a simplified declaration by product family from 10,000 to 500,000, and grams per material for each UVC above 500,000.
  • Separately, household packaging carries the Triman logo and Info-tri sorting instructions, on the packaging itself.

All of it in Citeo, Triman and Info-tri for web shops.

EU: the packaging regulation (PPWR)

Weight per category

  • Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Annex IX, lists the categories for producers’ reports: glass, plastic, paper and cardboard, ferrous metal, aluminium, wood and other.
  • Since 12 August 2026 it also sets who counts as the producer in each country: a seller shipping directly to consumers in another country is the producer there.

Not the same as a fee quote

The calculator gives weights, not prices. What you pay depends on your dual system’s contract in Germany and on Citeo’s tariff in France, so take prices from them. This is general information, not legal advice.

Getting the inputs right

The totals are only as good as the weights and counts you enter. Five checks that keep them honest.

  1. Weigh every component empty. Boxes in each size, mailers, filler, tape, labels, tissue, and the product’s own jar, pouch or box. Supplier invoices rarely give weights; a scale is faster.
  2. Split mixed materials. A cardboard box with a plastic window is two rows. Keep grams with decimals until the end.
  3. Count shipments, not orders. A split order used two boxes; a cancelled one used none. Digital products and gift cards have no packaging.
  4. One country at a time. Use the shipping country, not the billing country or currency. Parcels to France do not belong in a LUCID report.
  5. Keep your working. Save the CSV with the date and your order export, so you can show how you got each figure. The full method is in packaging weight per material from Shopify orders.

Let your Shopify orders do the counting

A calculator needs you to count units. Your shipped orders already know them, but Shopify keeps no record of the packaging each parcel used.

Grammo: Packaging EPR Report keeps a library of your packaging, attaches it to variants and shipping-box rules, and adds up kilograms per material and country from your successful fulfillments. Germany gets the eight LUCID material types and a LUCID XML file, France the Citeo 2026 grid, and every report exports to CSV or XLSX. You stay the declarant: it submits nothing to LUCID, a dual system or Citeo.

  1. Describe your packagingAdd each component once and attach it to the variants and boxes that use it.
  2. Pick a country and periodThe app counts the fulfillments shipped there in that period.
  3. Report it yourselfExport the file and enter the figures with LUCID, your dual system or Citeo.

Questions about the calculator

Something else? Write to hello@reply.getstorefleet.com.

Is the calculator free to use?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on components, and the CSV export is included.

Are my packaging figures uploaded?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and your components are kept in this browser’s local storage for your next visit. “Clear all” removes them. Nothing is sent to a server.

Do I report the product’s weight or only the packaging?

Only the packaging. Enter the box, mailer, filler, tape, labels and the product’s own packaging such as a jar or pouch, not the product inside.

How do I enter a box with a plastic window?

As two rows: the cardboard part under paper and cardboard, the window under the plastic type, each with its own grams. A component made of several materials that cannot be separated is a composite.

Can I use one calculation for Germany and France?

Run it once per country, with the units shipped to that country only. LUCID counts packaging shipped to end users in Germany; Citeo counts packaging placed on the French market.

Does the calculator file my LUCID or Citeo report?

No. It gives you the figures; you enter them with LUCID, your dual system or Citeo yourself. It does not register you or sign any contract.
